Summer is here with full force, and it looks like we might actually get the `barbecue summer` weather that we have all been promised! Nice, hot sunny weather (as opposed to the constant rain of the last couple of years) also means that kids will get to play out in their gardens. Long hot summery days inevitably mean an increase in the demand for garden toys! Children`s garden toys need to be fun, durable and most importantly, above all else, garden toys for children need to be safe.

You can now purchase pretty much every type of outdoor toy, which has been scaled down, usually in both size and price, to make it suitable for domestic use. Outdoor toys/play-sets such as swings, slides, ride ons and trampolines are all available from reputable retailers.
Trampolines are a particularly popular choice of outdoor toy. Trampolines come in various sizes and with various weight capacities. Always stick to manufacturers age appropriate guidelines and recommendations, and also ensure that you have the correct surface in your garden for your outdoor toys. For example, slides should not be placed on concrete and even when placed on grass it is recommended that you use specific safety mats that are specially designed for both children`s play areas and suitable for use overgrass.
You can also buy outdoor toys that are character based, thus increasing their appeal to children of a certain age. So if your little boy has a Power Rangers bedroom set, or your little girl loves Fifi and the Flower tots, then why not buy them a ride-on toy for the garden with a picture of their favourite character on? Children will probably enjoy these items more, and you will get more value for money, as they will play with them more!
